(EN) Mathild Clerc-Verhoeven (France, 1993) is a visual artist based in Amsterdam. She creates artworks using various media such as wood, textiles, and video. Her practice combines material experimentation with collaborative projects and public space interventions. Influenced by her background in architecture, art history, and textiles, her work is rooted in the material realities of Western post-industrial society—where the material production has shifted to regions with cheaper labor, raw materials, and limited social protections.
She approaches weaving and woodworking not as nostalgic crafts, but as critical tools to explore broader questions around labor, social interaction, and material culture, including the connection between what we pay attention to and our perception of value. She recently collaborated with Paris sewage workers toward an exhibition at the Paris Sewers Museum for Museum Night 2026. Her work has been shown at various locations including at the 40th EVA International (IE) and Polana Institute (PL), among others.

Son approche expérimentale des matériaux s’accompagne de collaborations et d’interventions dans l’espace public. Formée en architecture, en histoire de l’art et en textile, elle inscrit sa pratique dans les réalités matérielles de la société postindustrielle occidentale, marquée par la délocalisation de la production vers des régions où la main-d’œuvre est moins coûteuse et la protection sociale limitée. Elle aborde le tissage et le travail du bois non comme des artisanats nostalgiques, mais comme des outils critiques pour interroger le travail, les interactions sociales et la culture matérielle, ainsi que le lien entre attention et valeur.
Elle a récemment collaboré avec les égoutiers parisiens pour une exposition au Musée des Égouts de Paris à l’occasion de la Nuit Blanche 2026. Son travail a été présenté, entre autres, à Billy à la 40e édition d’EVA International (IE) et à l’Institut Polana (PL).
